Robert Spatny, P.E.
Professional Engineer (PE)

Robert Spatny began his career as a civil engineer with Exxon for several major refinery construction projects. At C.F. Braun & Company he had overall design responsibility for heavy industrial structures. As the Project Engineer at McFarland-Johnson Engineers, Mr. Spatny specialized in the design and preparation of plans for public and industrial buildings, water treatment plants as well as preliminary-through-final design and preparation of plans for major highway structures in several states.

Mr. Spatny launched EMJ Construction Consultants, NA, Inc. in 1985, which continues to thrive despite some of the most challenging times in the commercial real estate lending industry.

Mr. Spatny is a Registered Professional Engineer, licensed in both New York and New Jersey. He is a member of the American Society of Civil engineers. In addition, he maintains memberships in both the Chi Epsilon Engineering Society and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Mr. Spatny holds a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson College of Technology and a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Norwich University. Post grad education includes Newark College of Engineering and Columbia University in geotechnical engineering.



David Whitehead, R.A.
American Institute of Architects

After receiving a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Architecture from New York Institute of Technology, David Whitehead worked at a large general contracting firm. He was involved in the entire scope of work from estimating, purchasing, project supervision and architectural design.

Mr. Whitehead continued his career as a Plan Examiner for the Town of Oyster Bay in the Division of Planning where he examined and approved building plans for compliance to codes, laws and ordinances.

As a Senior Construction Consultant at McFarland-Johnson Engineers, Inc., Mr. Whitehead monitored construction projects for lending institutions where he prepared Property Condition Assessments, Construction Monitoring reports and Pre-Construction Plan and Cost Reviews.

Mr. Whitehead partnered with Mr. Spatny to create EMJNA in 1985 where they continue to provide professional construction consulting services to lenders, investors and owners.

Mr. Whitehead is a Registered Architect in New York and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
